UPDATED: The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police have all responded to an incident in Cowes this afternoon (Wednesday).
Specialist doctors from the mainland-based air ambulance team were called to the town shortly before 14:20, landing on open ground at Red Ensign beside the River Medina at around 14:30.
Island Echo understands that emergency crews have been present at an address in Bridge Road.
At least 4 Police units are known to have responded to the area alongside 2 ambulances from Newport.
The air ambulance has now taken off and is returning to its base in Andover, suggesting it has not conveyed any patients to a mainland hospital.
UPDATE @ 16:02 – It has been confirmed that a 60-year-old man has sadly died after suddenly collapsing in Cowes.
Despite the best efforts of medical teams from both sides of the Solent, as well as members of the public from Bannister’s Garage, the life of the gentleman could not be saved.
Emergency teams have now stood down from the incident and Police are working to contact the next of kin.
