Residents have labelled yet another burst water main in Nettlestone as ‘totally shambolic’ with the main road through the village closed once again.
Southern Water are, for the 4th time in as many weeks, working to fix a burst water main in the East Wight village – this time it has gone on Nettlestone Green Road outside the Londis shop.
Engineers from Clancy Doc Wra are already on site and have dug down to locate the faulty pipe.
Thankfully, local traffic is able to divert around the closure by using Caws Avenue or Orchard Road.
In previous weeks there have been bursts on 2 sections of Eddington Road and another on Nettlestone Hill.

Time for the locals to get there wheely bins out again….
Oh Steve, they are water shedding now.
what a pity for the poshest town on the island
Due to a lack of investment by water companies, these incidents will occur more and more often now. Meanwhile, if you are a shareholder or anyone on the management team, you can expect a nice bonus for all your hard work (not)!
Yet they keep building more properties on the Island.
The Mains etc cannot cope with the existing properties, yet alone more properties.
One of the water meters in the road I live had been leaking for about 2 months now. I laughed when I got a leaflet through the door from the waterboard saying “SAVE WATER” and that there is a water restriction in place!. Fix the leaks!
