Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat launched to assist a 35ft sailing yacht that had lost all power off the coast of the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Wednesday).
Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the ‘Alfred Albert Williams’ at just gone midday following reports from 2 crew members on board the casualty yacht that they had lost all power in the busy shipping lanes.
It did not take long for the RNLI volunteers to reach the yacht and establish a tow to Haslar Marina.
Having berthed her safely alongside one of the marina pontoons, the Tamar-class lifeboat returned to Bembridge and was recovered by 15:10.
The yacht was sailing around the UK and was on her way to the East Coast.
