A man found with a bundle of cash and a sock containing a large metal dumbbell nut has been arrested, questioned and bailed over a number of alleged offences, including drug driving.
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary’s Isle of Wight High Harm Team moved in on the 35-year-old yesterday afternoon (Monday) when they spotted a vehicle of interest on Forest Road, Newport.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver spoken to, with a drugs wipe subsequently carried out at the roadside. The driver failed the test.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a wad of cash, as well as an offensive weapon – namely a sock containing a large metal dumbbell nut.
Police have confirmed that the unnamed 35-year-old was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, possession of criminal property and possession of an offensive weapon. He was taken to custody at Newport Police Station and questioned by officers.
He has since been bailed until 21st August whilst investigations continue.

The law in this country is quite clear as to when you can name someone that has been questioned and has not faced magistrates or a jury and found guilty. The “Thick” one is all those here that don’t know the basic English laws

Who says he won’t be charged. The police need a watertight case to give to the CPS and enquiries have to be made, evidence collected, and statements taken. Charge him too soon and he’ll walk free even if he is guilty of the charges
