Ryde firefighters are tackling a large fire in the open measuring 30x20m in Haylands this evening (Wednesday).
2 appliances and a Land Rover 4×4 are currently in attendance at Colenutts Road, where crews are using footpaths to access the scene of the fire on the fringes of Dame Anthony’s Common.
A hose reel jet and a main jet are being used to extinguish the flames which have damaged an area of field.
Thankfully, the situation has been swiftly contained owing to Ryde’s swift response and good access to a hydrant.
Locals have questioned whether youths are to blame following historic incidents of a similar nature in the area of Salters Field.

Only 5 and a half more weeks of it, and the Pork will return in the vain hope that it can be educated enough to learn how to sign on.
If a child gets burnt doing this, wait for the wails from the muvver, and the sympathy from the gullible on here, yet the silent wild animals burnt to a painful death have no voice, no medical care, and are left to die slowly whilst the scum who do this are safe and kept by benefits in comfort..
