3 more people have been arrested following a public order incident in Binstead yesterday morning (Thursday), which has led to a house being raided and a quantity of drugs being seized.
As first reported by Island Echo, emergency services rushed to Ringwood Road at 05:30 on Thursday morning to reports of a public order incident at the junction with Beatrice Close.
2 people sustained minor injuries and were arrested on suspicion of affray. A 31-year-old man from East Cowes remains in custody after a Superintendent granted a custody extension. A 23-year-old man from Cowes also remains in custody for the alleged affray, as well as on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis. Both have been bailed until 1st September pending further enquiries.
Now, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a 3rd man – a 25-year-old from Newport – has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He also remains in custody at this time.
Last night a search in the long grass within the cordon established earlier in the day was conducted using a metal detector, thought to be in a bid to locate a knife. A sniffer dog was also being utilised to scour the area.
It has been confirmed this lunchtime that no weapons have been located.
Further developments have come to light with confirmation that as part of the ongoing investigation, Police raided a property on Binstead Lodge Road and located a quantity of suspected cannabis yesterday.
Following this seizure, a 31-year-old woman from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis. An 18-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of a Class A drug.
Both women have been bailed until 1st September pending further enquiries.
All cordons have now been lifted following yesterday evening’s search and on-scene investigations by forensic investigators, who recovered 2 flip flops from within the grass for further analysis.
