Local weather forecasters IW Met Service say that 3-5cm of snow is possible on the Isle of Wight on Thursday and into the early hours of Friday.
Heavy rain will push in from the South during Thursday evening which is likely to turn to snow as it moves inland across the Island.
The latest data suggests that 3-5 cm of snow is possible in places, more so in central and western parts. Later in the evening the winds are likely to turn to the southwest which will push milder weather across the Island turning any falling snow back to rain andleading to a rapid thaw of lying snow.
The yellow weather warning is in force from 16:00 on Thursday until 05:00 on Friday.
Island Roads gritters will be out on the road network from 19:00 tonight (Wednesday(, treating all P1 and P2 routes.
