Police have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of burglary after a male entered a shop and stole a crate of Fosters during the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).
The Co-Operative on Well Road, East Cowes is closed this morning as a result of the overnight incident. A sign on the door reads ‘shop closed until door safe’.
Hampshire Constabulary was alerted to the break-in at around 05:00 this morning and arrived on scene to find a window had been smashed.
It has been confirmed that a 22-year-old man from East Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling.
He remains in custody at Newport Police Station at this time.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – 22-year-old Josef Wilkins of Pellhurst Road, Ryde has been charged with burglary.
He has been bailed with conditions to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 27th September.

As the Islands increase in crime proves that our courts have made stealing an easy safe option, as with prisons filled with the world’s worst rejects, thieves know that they won’t be jailed, can’t be made to pay a fine if on the dole, as classed as too poor, so nothing to lose by taking, and very occasionally getting caught.
The weakness of UK laws due to full prisons will now never end.
