A car and a 4×4 pick up have been involved in a collision on Mill Hill Road in Cowes this evening (Sunday).
The crash has occurred on the notorious Victoria Road junction.
A Honda Jazz has sustained significant front end damage, with damage also caused to a commercial Nissan Navara pick up.
No injuries have been reported.
The road is currently blocked with traffic diverting locally.
Southern Vectis Route 1 buses are likely to be effected.
UPDATE @ 20:00 – The scene has now been cleared and Mill Hill Road has fully reopened.

Drivers drive like they expect the road to be clear and empty, yet with ever more houses crammed into a tiny Island, driving accidents will only ever get worse as the thoughtless get more impatient stuck in long queues and overtake, or speed at any given chance, knowing that the Police will be very unlikely to be around.
So you know what caused the accident then? Wait for the vacuous comments from the usual band of three…
The poster doesn’t have to know the cause of every singular accident.
I took it as they were making a very accurate point, that we are overcrowded on our narrow, twisting roads, and the type we have here now, not being Islanders, aren’t used to it, nor prepared to potter along.
So they do drive an inch behind you, and do risk overtaking on blind corners or brow of hill etc if you don’t drive to the unsafe, unreasonable and illegal speeds they think they need to drive at. Which in most cases will be just to score some gear, or see one of the muvers of some scattered mini clones or other no rush situation.
No, they were saying that everyone on the road is impatient and drives like an idiot. Most drivers are careful and competent, the minority are the idiots, despite the number of accidents that happen on the island. There is such a thing as an unforseen accident, despite the haters who would tell you otherwise.
‘Most drivers are careful and competent, ‘ I do not thinks so at all… Very few are confident, very few have a clue as to how large or small their vehicle is.. How about indicators, very few use them… How many at night pull over other side of road and leave headlights on , whilst they pop into a shop, or chat with someone, or wait for someone… headlights straight into oncoming car drivers eyes… So indeed very few….. open your eyes, have a look, see what you are seeing… learn the highway code…. !!
As you say. Islanders. Grow up and get with the times,
Why, Grey? I’ve lived here 40-odd years and like being slightly behind the times & safer & sounder than elsewhere. Why should anyone who lives on this beautiful, tranquil, and, yes, slow pace of life, even contemplate your suggestion to ‘get with the times’?
Why, Robin?
small roads + to many people + more cars = accidents, it’s obvious.
Quite so Sir D, also another factor is, not so long back most cars which the islands young poor people had were fairly weak and slow. Yet now, since overly generous benefits are paid to those with children, and the fact that easy credit combined with a bit of dealing, means that such rental assisted tenants can now afford hugely powerful cars all on ‘tick’ of course.
As image is all they care about then we find ourselves in the situation we are now in.
With few Police, weak sentences IF ever caught and more cars, it will get ever worse
Wonder what your car is as you know so much about the island people it’s just due care and attention it’s not a dangerous junction
Very unintelligent small minded opinion. Easy to use the blame game
Yes, I agree. That doesn’t mean however that all drivers are bad.
I note that the number plate has been obliterated so the public do not know the owner , but the vehicle is sign written on the side . !!!!
Absolutely! So many cars on the islands roads now. Half term was so busy. In fact in don’t ever remember it being so busy at this time of year. Only going to get worse if the Council continue to pass housing plans. Everytime I went out last week, I got stuck in a traffic jam. Not pleasant.
I suppose it was caused by someone pulling out in front of another vehicle, as ALL the other incidents here. I used to use it twice a day.
Many times it is eyes shut pulling out of that junction, do you not think that campervan parked on main road obstructs our vision immensely, crawling out to turn then find yourself driving almost into the vehicle driving up the road, how about double lines on this part of the road until our vision is clear to see oncoming cars
Just be thankful no injuries!
More idiots will be along soon…
Notorious!!! It’s a junction with a clear view in all directions.
I say you can’t park sir
More bad driving on the IW
Yawn!!!!
Wow, top posters such self righteous morons! Yeah most people who are involved in road traffic incidents are drug dealing scum who have kids purely for the child benefit cash bonus! Absolute fools. Seeing as you can tell the future was it the business driver who probably does manual labour 50+ hours a week or (I am going to stereotype here) probably the older driver in the Honda jazz who was probably just so intent on scoring drugs they didn’t care about the junction? Accidents happen! The police arrive and everyone gets a drug and alcohol test! So it seems to me that you’re just a fool with a very prejudice view. Get off your high horse.
Indeed some individuals have a very jaundice view of life
Excuse me, but there is nothing ‘notorious’ about that junction at ball. It is just another junction. Sadly vehicle users are the only ones to blame. These roads have been here longer than the drivers of today.. LEARN TO DRIVE…. Give way signs mean GIVE WAY… !! Unknown how many of these drivers ever passed a test.
Sometimes, an accident it just that, an accident. And the people involved are normally good drivers. So many here think they are the best drivers in the world and never make a mistake or miss judge what another driver is about to do. These kinds of ‘arm chair’ perfect drivers are the ones that cause most accidents.
Blimey! For once I have to agree with you Fred. Too many people on here are able to say what must have caused an accident when they have no facts to base their opinion on. Yes, there is some awful driving on the island, in my opinion due largely to no enforcement, but unforseen accidents also happen. I wouldn’t speculate on the cause as, without the facts, there is no point.
Why do people always blame the road!?
“Notorious Junction” that’s a new one . Crap drivers more like.
