27-year-old James Rose and 44-year-old Martyn Shotton have been charged with possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and will go before Portsmouth Magistrates this morning (Thursday).
As reported by Island Echo last night, it was on Tuesday that Police noticed a suspect vehicle travelling into Hampshire via the A3. The car was stopped by officers on St George’s Road, Portsmouth.
It’s alleged that a passenger left the vehicle and ran towards the Millennium Walkway at Gunwharf Quays, before discarding a rucksack containing suspected Class A drugs into the water.
2 men were arrested as part of enquiries and they have since been charged
James Brian Rose, 27, of North Road in Shanklin, has been charged with concealing criminal property and 2 counts of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
Martyn Andrew Shotton, 44, of Sun Hill in Cowes, has been charged with concealing criminal property, drug driving, and 2 counts of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
Both men have been remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Judging by the photo, it looks like 2 police officers have been arrested.
Not surprised at this news item, all they need do is place a drug officer in the Terminals on the Island you can spot the “runners and users” a mile away, some quite openly discussing with each other pick up points etc. The body movements, the way they act you can see they’re desperate for the next fix, tip of the day it is usually when the benefit payments come through.
I cannot believe it has taken this long for these scum to be caught.
