2 men from Shanklin and Cowes have been arrested in Portsmouth by officers investigating the supply of Class A drugs on the Isle of Wight.
At 21:30 last night (Tuesday), a vehicle of interest in an ongoing investigation was spotted on its way into Hampshire via the A3 and was stopped by officers on St George’s Road, Portsmouth.
On spotting officers, a passenger left the vehicle and ran towards the Millennium Walkway at Gunwharf Quays. He discarded a rucksack into the water as officers detained him.
The rucksack was recovered and found to contain suspected Class A drugs.
The man, a 27-year-old from Shanklin, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A.
A second man, a 44-year-old from Cowes, was also arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug and driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.
Both remain in police custody at the current time.

Take all they own and remove passport drivers licence and leave them once free from jail with whatever dole money is for a single person for twenty years
So then they’ll start thieving and burgling. Sound advice.
Dangeld never works. Low life ARE given everything now, free house, scattered children and ex partners all kept, treated and housed for life, and they STILL grow in lofts, deal, rob and are often vile to all around them.
So being ‘nice’ and giving more and more clearly hasn’t worked, so don’t bother, cut their standard of living to the bone, and IF they steal hit them even harder.
More filthy scumbags bringing their poison onto our island, more will be along soon…
If you read the artical,
It sounds like they were exporting and not importing, intresting….?
These sort need locking up for ten years minimum.
Those who import drugs have long sentences and so should those down the line.
Bailiffs need to take all they own to and the state to never allow them any income above dole money.
That’ll learn em
I’m sure they just need a bit of support to get their lives back on track.
Shanklin man involved with drugs?? Surely some mistake……….?
Like I said years ago, scum who are dealing drugs, it’s only a matter of time before you are caught. Drugs ruin lives and communities.
The saddos who have to take drugs to have a good time or rely on them everyday, stop and get help. You making scum bags rich by buying this crap.
In some European countries they’re tougher on those involved in the supply and distribution of drugs. For example, in Spain the police confiscate all the accused persons belongings and if convicted the items are sold via a government auction site. Any money raised goes towards their own incarceration. The UK could learn from this and adopt a similar program. Let’s not treat these people with kid gloves anymore. We need to take the gloves off and teach them a harsh lesson.
