VIDEO: A 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of arson following the devastating blaze that destroyed a school in Lake back in July has been released from Police bail with no further action to be taken against him.
Hampshire Constabulary are continuing to investigate the fire which destroyed the Island Learning Center during the early hours of 17th July, however, the teenager – the only person arrested in relation to the incident – is no longer being questioned by Police.
As first reported by Island Echo, firefighters battled throughout the night to stop the fire spreading to nearby woodland and properties after the building – formally Broadlea Primary School – became engulfed in flames. The fire spread from a mini bus parked near to the school entrance.
Specialist fire investigation dogs from the mainland were brought in to examine the charred remains of the school before it was demolished and leveled, as photographed by Darren Vaughan of Wightdrone.
The Island Learning Centre has now moved to the former Hunnyhill Primary School in Newport.
No one else has been arrested in relation to the investigation.
