Work on the new Aldi store in Lake is due to commence in the New Year, developers have confirmed to Island Echo.
Planning permission for the new 1,140sqm neighbourhood supermarket was approved by the Isle of Wight Council back in June of this year.
Part of the now-empty office block of Spithead Business Centre is due to be demolished to make way for the car park, with work on this phase of the development beginning in January or early February.
Up to 40 new full and part-time jobs will be created by the opening of Aldi’s second Island store.
Although an opening date for the cut-price supermarket is yet to be revealed, it is anticipated the store will open in late 2016 or early 2017.
