Hundreds of pounds will be awarded to an Isle of Wight energy charity to help it identify ‘significant’ savings for vulnerable households.
Wootton Bridge Parish Council (WBPC) has approved a £500 grant to the Footprint Trust for its ‘Warmer Wootton’ scheme, supporting around 10 to 15 households.
The trust provides free home energy guidance and works to reduce the Island’s carbon footprint.
It requested match funding at 50% to cover a home visit, one outreach event in Wootton reaching several households, and 10 phone visits.
The charity said it can identify ‘significant’ savings for vulnerable households, providing strong value for money for the cost of delivery.
Outgoing WBPC chair Linda Pitcher told the WBPC’s Tuesday meeting (19th May):
“They seem to be doing things in the village, don’t they, more than can be said for some charities.”
The trust’s home visits include developing a comprehensive home energy action plan.
According to its website, it can help people understand and reduce bills, identify high energy usage, improve heating efficiency, provide grant information and find ways to save energy and money.
