Cross-Solent ferry operator Wightlink is to operate a revised timetable on its Portsmouth to Fishbourne vehicle ferry route today (Tuesday).
The delays to the timetable on the company’s busiest route are a result of technical issues.
The upcoming 09:40 sailing from Fishbourne to Portsmouth has been cancelled.
Boats leaving Portsmouth are running at 20 past and on the hour, as are sailings from Fishbourne to the mainland.

“Technical issue” or not enough punters to make crossings profitable? Or not enough staff? WL would do themselves a favour by being a bit more forthcoming.
More W-L lies will be along soon….
I wonder what could be done, to build some kind of connection between the island and the mainland, to stop companies such as this from having a choke hold over island residents?
What a wonderful idea!!, But a certain portion of our more mature population, who obviously have tin baths, outside loos, coal fires, think you need a passport to get to Newport and vote for any colour as long as it’s blue, cannot accept progress/change. Are we part of France because we have a tunnel between us and them? of course not. Having a tunnel just gives you more connectivity with the mainland, especially when so much of the Islands healthcare is now dealt with on the mainland. This would end the duopoly of the hedge funds who put profits before people.
The so-called progress you speak of is an overwhelming population which has made it almost impossible to see a GP and years of waiting to be treated in hospital, and a lazy native population that don’t want to get their hand dirty and work for a living.
Now you want to turn the island into a mass of concrete that would need a fixed link, you can keep your progress were the sun doesn’t shine….get yourself a tin bath and Hyde under it…
I bet they will all be running OK again by Saturday !
Wightlink and Red Funnel need to work on their communication with islanders. They need to prioritise residents on the island with either free or heavily discounted prices. a fixed link isn’t the answer for the prosperity of an Island that would loose its identity by being attached to the mainland. the ferry operators need to be more transparent and less hostile towards residents concerns. the community need to be a part of that solution rather than just demanding a fixed link. The island needs to be connected by an efficient and reliable service for everyone. Ideally WL and RF would be funded by the gov. & free at the point of use.
