A total of 7 Wightlink ferry crossings between Fishbourne and Portsmouth have been cancelled this afternoon (Thursday) due to an ongoing technical issue.
Wightlink has confirmed that the 16:00, 18:00 and 20:00 sailings from Portsmouth have been suspended. Meanwhile, the 15:00, 17:00, 19:00 and 21:00 services from Fishbourne will also not operate.
This follows the earlier cancellation of the 13:00 vehicle ferry service from Fishbourne.
No further details have been provided at this stage about the nature of the technical problem or when full service is expected to resume.
Wightlink has apologised for the inconvenience caused.
and yet they still keep advertising that they are the go-to reliable solution for crossing the solent !

Compated to some I suppose they might be, it’s becoming such a lottery of your chosen route running in both directions is making many people think twoce before travelling.
I WAS going to the mainland on Saturday but have decided not to due to the unreliability of the services.

Time for a bridge or tunnel.
The cheapest option is get a timber company or better
still get the Royal Engineers to extend the length of
Ryde Pier to Pompey.
Can charge a £5 crossing fee and it would be perfect for
Emergency services going to and from the island.
It would create better prospects for island residents etc
I seem to remember pre covid there never seemed to be any cancellations or shortage of staff issues. Since then it seems to be a weekly issue on both the ferry companies.
In my opinion it’s all done deliberately.

Lack of customers due to extortionate fares is the real
reason.
