Wightlink have cancelled all of their late afternoon and evening crossings on the Yarmouth-Lymington route due to the anticipated adverse weather conditions.
Strong winds and heavy rain is forecast for later on today with gusts up to 70 miles an hour in the Solent, as previously reported by Island Echo.
Wightlink say that the conditions may cause difficulties in navigating the Lymington River.
The last sailing from Lymington will be at 15:00 and the last boat from Yarmouth will be at 16:05.
Services from Fishbourne/Portsmouth are not expected to be affected by the weather and therefore all customers booked on the Yarmouth route are being re-booked to Fishbourne.
As a result of the suspension of service, Wightlink say there will be extra car ferry sailings between Portsmouth and Fishbourne and an extra 15:40 sailing on the Portsmouth-Ryde Pier Head FastCat.
