WightFibre’s 10,000th customer, Mr Charlton from Ryde, has been handed a brand new Samsung TV as a surprise gift after his recent switch to the Isle of Wight internet provider.
Cowes-based WightFibre surprised Mr Charlton with the gift to mark this milestone in the company’s new full-fibre rollout.
Mr Charlton, said:
“I was extremely delighted to learn that I was WightFibre’s 10,000th Broadband Customer, and that as a reward WightFibre have given me completely free of charge one of the latest Samsung 50″ Smart Tv’s. So now I will be able to really appreciate WightFibre’s blazingly fast Broadband speeds”.
John Irvine, CEO of WightFibre, said the connection of WightFibre’s 10,000th customer shows WightFibre is well on its’ way to becoming the No 1 broadband provider on the Island:
“I am humbled that over 10,000 homes and businesses on the Island are placing their trust in WightFibre to deliver what is now an essential service for most households. Our new full-fibre, future-proof network is second to none on the planet and this, coupled with our very high levels of customer care is giving customers what they want – fast reliable broadband that just works.”
WightFibre’s full-fibre network is now available to 35,000 homes on the Island. Work is now underway in the harder to reach parts of the Island including Ventnor, Freshwater, Totland, St Helens, Seaview, Bembridge and Brading. Service is expected to launch in Ventnor in March.
Thank God that they have nearly finished in Sandown, It looked/looks like a WW1 battlefield at times.
But I am sure that the fine people of Bembridge will have no such problems.
Yes sir yes miss… sorry about the muddy paving squire.
Totally agree! Sandown is currently a nightmare. Lack of diversions and signage. The one-way Esplanade has had traffic travelling in both directors today, including coaches! Accident waiting to happen. Don’t think the engineers understand how fibre optic cables work either; chucking it in with kinks and bends…
Totally agree , the whole island is a mess , our beautiful island , thanks wightfibre , look after your customers never mind the state of the roads and pavements you’ve left them in .
Can’t get it where I live though, keep being told up to 9 months that was 2 to 3 years ago
They are leaving Brading till last, as not many people there have television sets.
You should probably think yourself very lucky! We currently have them working in several places in Freshwater and as a direct result residents in different occurrences have had a gas line cut, and water mains cut (even though the resident made them aware of where the pipe ran) On Friday our business and at least 2 orhers that i know of suffered power cuts. We closed early with the loss of earnings but still the onus of paying wages. Since speaking to other people about these occurrences I’ve heard of several other people suffering utility cuts because of their work. Quite apart from their apparent incompetence and the disruption to traffic flow, it’s heartbreaking to see the absolute mess they’re leaving of our newly laid roads and pavements.
Can’t wait for them to start digging up and putting trenches into Ventnor.
The whole town will start sliding into the sea.
They are in Ventnor, been doing the same bit of road for 3 weeks
Why not surprise the rest of us by completing on time, and not leaving a dreadful muddy mess along with the chaos?
Now bribing people into forgetting the inconsiderate disruption and the Ladish demolition teams leaving wreckage in their wake the island pavements will look like this for year’s. Can only imagine what Tourists think when they see our pavements and those Ugly white boxes everywhere!!
A different colour might be more attractive.
Bribery and corruption at its finest. For all the shoddy work and disruption they have caused to everyone, every household should get a free tv
I signed their Wayleave Authority 18months ago and am now on my third broadband provider since then. They still aren’t available in my apartment block yet the neighbouring properties can all get it. Don’t come to me when you finally get around to installing your equipment, I’m no longer interested.
But not bothered about blocking my business with barriers
10,000 homes have signed up with Wightfibre out of a possible 35,000 where it’s available. So, they are claiming to supply 1 in every 3.5 homes where they offer a service? That sounds like an extraordinarily high percentage. I find that VERY difficult to believe or am I missing something obvious?
If you look into the history of Wightfibre, CEO John Irvine portrays himself as Mr. entrepreneur giving away money on the radio, free TVs to people etc , This business was on its knees until the government gave it MILLIONS in grants to roll out Fibre. Irvine is not capable of running a business, Any business given over £30m in grants would be able to appear successful & be able to self promote but the fact remains that if Wightfibre was not supported by government handouts at tax payers expense then Wightfibre as a business would highly likely not be in operation today !
Surprised customer with TV how about all the customers that were surprised by a 9.3% increase in their bills from April. Amazing how all these companies are putting their prices up the same amount by 5.4% inflation and a further 3.9% set rate increase. Seems to be more than a coincidence
