West Wight Sports & Community Centre has announced that its Eco Refill Scheme has raised £500 in its first 6 months since moving to the Centre.
This fantastic contribution will fund first aid update training for 12 members of staff – an essential investment that helps keep the Centre safe, prepared, and able to support the thousands of visitors who use the facilities each year.

“Every refill helps the environment and directly strengthens the services we can offer. This £500 will make a real difference.”
Gina Maliphant, who helps coordinate Eco Refill, said:
“I’m absolutely thrilled to see how well Eco Refill has been embraced since moving to the Centre. Every person who comes along — whether they’re refilling a single bottle or stocking up for the month — is helping to reduce waste and support a much-loved local charity. It’s wonderful to watch the scheme grow, and I’m excited to be part of something that makes a real difference to both our community and the environment.”
The Centre also confirmed that Eco Refill and West Wight Sports & Community Centre will take part in Freshwater’s Late Night Shopping event on Friday, 19th December, 16:00 – 20:00.
Local businesses will be opening their doors with lots of pre-Christmas offers, and the Centre will be joining in with:
- Eco Refill products – household essentials, personal care items, sustainable gifts and stocking fillers
- An Eco Refill festive Lucky Dip
- Sports Centre gift vouchers – ideal for lessons, gym sessions or memberships
- Sports equipment for sale – including swim goggles, hats, nose clips and more
The Centre hopes this will encourage more people to discover the benefits of the Eco Refill Scheme, which is open regularly on Tuesdays 10:00-12:00 and Saturdays 09:30-11:30 and see first-hand how supporting it helps keep the charity thriving.
