At just before 07:25, electricity supply was lost to the PO40 and PO41 areas, namely parts of Freshwater and Yarmouth.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are aware of the issue and engineers are being sent to investigate and resolve the fault.
Power is expected to be restored by 10:30.
UPDATE @ 07:54 – Power has been restored to a large number of homes and businesses already, although 40 postcode areas still remain without power – primarily in the PO40 9 postcode.
