The Cowes Floating Bridge is to be suspended for the next 10 days so that urgent repairs can be undertaken. As previously reported by Island Echo it was announced last week (27th November) that during a previous period of maintenance, engineers found that a significant amount of wear and tear had occurred to the chain segments, several guidewheels and the prow bushes. It is hoped that these works will reduce the time the vessel is out of service in March 2024, when planned maintenance is to take place. Service is hoped to resume on 13th December. A launch service is in place for foot passengers throughout the 10-day closure.
