A yellow weather warning for both heavy rain and strong winds has been issued for the Isle of Wight on Sunday (Halloween).
Local forecasters IW Met Service say that adverse weather conditions will be evident on Sunday, between 06:00 and 14:00.
A band of heavy rain will move across the Island from the west which is likely to bring some torrential downpours, along with some very strong and gusty winds for a time.
Rainfall totals will vary considerably over very short distances, but some places could see 10-20mm with perhaps locally up to 30mm of rain falling over the period of just an hour or 2.
The heaviest spells of rain are likely to be accompanied by some very strong wind gusts of up to 60-70mph.
There is a risk of localised flash flooding along with the risk of some rivers breaching their banks. Field run-off debris such as sand, silt and stones may be washed onto roads, as well as fallen tree debris.
Polluted stormwater could also overflow onto the Island’s beaches.
Islanders should anticipate disruption to cross-Solent travel.
Is this climate change or weather?
It’s the weather, same as it’s always been, good through the week, crap at weekends from a working mans perspective. Climate change? We will all live longer if we stop listening to the fear mongers and worrying about it.
Fear=control.
we get storms every autumn so whats new
Exactly !, totally agree, but if it means I don’t have to give loads of grass it’s ‘hopefully’ last cut of the year then that’s fine by me….what’s on the telly ?
