A spell of very heavy rain accompanied by strong and squally winds will affect the Isle of Wight during the early hours of tomorrow morning (Tuesday).
IW Met Service has issued a yellow weather warning for the Island, which is valid from midnight tonight until 07:00 tomorrow.
Forecasters say that some very large rainfall totals will fall over a relatively short space of time in some parts, perhaps totalling as high as 30-40mm locally, however not everywhere will see these totals with some places escaping with as little as 3-5mm.
Accompanying the rain will be some very strong winds for a time, potentially gusting as high as 60-65mph in places, especially in and around the heaviest downpours.
Islanders are warned that localised flash flooding is likely in the usual prone locations, along with general surface water and spray, perhaps even some river bank breaching in some parts.
Field run-off water and debris such as silt, soil and shingle will affect some of the more rural routes. Tree debris will have an impact in places with leaves, twigs and perhaps small branches making driving conditions very hazardous at times.
The worst of the conditions are likely to be during the hours of darkness, therefore minimising the impacts. However, you may still be affected, especially if you are travelling during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
