Ventnor Exchange has unveiled exciting plans to bring new facilities, opportunities and energy to the town of Ventnor by redeveloping the former Ingrams building into a new creative and community hub.
It is hoped that with the support of the community, a new place can be created that will host events, makers studios, rehearsal rooms and youth space, alongside a year-round market.
It is said that the team behind Ventnor Exchange intend to plough all their learning and experiences from the last decade into this new project entitled ‘Ingrams Yard’, all on a not-for-profit basis.
The building, minutes from the town centre, is in a state of considerable disrepair, but it’s a unique opportunity for a space like this to be re-purposed into something of real value to the community, it is said.
The project can only be achieved through fundraising, as there will be no investors or shareholders. Much of the activity will be self-sustaining, once established.
A crowdfunded has now been launched to raise the initial funds needed to make the most urgent repairs, get parts of the building open and launch the market square. This will allow time for bids to be put together for major grants.
At the time of publication, more than £3,500 has been raised. You can support the cause at https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/ingramsyard.

Lets hope this works out. So many boomers and Gen-X being left isolated over the years. Give them and the younger generation meet up and have fun creating.
