Island Line trains have been suspended this afternoon (Friday) due to vandalism of railway equipment.
South Western Railway say that trains running between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin are currently suspended, with disruption expected to continue until 20:00 tonight.
It’s unclear what vandalism has been caused and where exactly this has taken place.
The 15:15 from Shanklin was running ok.

The cameras would be worth more the carriages..,
Drove past Shanklin approx 8pm noticed a large group of unsavoury looking
persons outside the station.
Maybe the Police from Shanklin Police Station should patrol the trains at various times of the day.
Good luck with that one. The Police leave drug crime to flourish here, I expect vandalism is just as ‘low priority for them.
