Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team were called to Shanklin Esplanade earlier today (Wednesday) when a van and boat trailer became stuck in the sand.
Solent Coastguard tasked officers to the scene near The Fisherman’s Cottage at 11:38.
2 persons in the van were trying to tow a boat to the slipway when they found themselves in a sticky situation.
Thankfully, all the vehicles were recovered by a local recovery firm and all persons were deemed safe and well.
A spokesperson for Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team has said:
“The gentleman did the correct thing in calling the coastguard on 999.
“The sand, even for a 4×4 vehicle, can become dangerous as vehicles sink and traction is poor”.
Ventnor CRT issues safety advice to the duo.
