UPDATED: Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision involving a van on Fairlee Road on the outskirts of Newport this afternoon (Tuesday).
The incident, which occured at around 13:45, has taken place near to the turning for Island Harbour at Binfield.
A Mercedes Sprinter van has collided with a Mercedes car before coming to rest in a hedge lining the carriageway. A number of other vehicles have stopped at the scene.
Police are in attendance at the crash alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, who have 2 ambulances and a Bronze Commander in attendance.
Fairlee Road is open in both directions but traffic is slow past the scene of the incident.
UPDATE – 1 person has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, whilst another has been treated at the scene.
It has been confirmed that a third vehicle was also involved in the crash.
