
Unite the Isle of Wight – Politics of Hope are to hold a demonstration outside Andrew Turner’s offices in Newport later on today (Friday).
The group are challenging the Conservative government’s need for austerity and the devastating cuts to public services and welfare to people on the Isle of Wight. Unite the Isle of Wight have two appointments to see the Island’s MP, where they intend to discuss the council budget and homelessness on the Isle of Wight, as well as hand over letters of concerns from local residents.
The demonstration will be held outside Mr Turner’s office at The Riverside Centre between 17:15 – 19:00 this evening (Friday 4th March).
Kay Smith, on behalf of the group said:
“The 2017/18 budget outlook is bleak. We want to bring awareness to what lies ahead for Island residents under this present government.
“Let’s be a very vocal and UNITED voice for the Island based on the principles of caring about people, caring about public services and caring about real lives that are being affected”.
