UPDATED: Island Line services have been suspended this afternoon (Friday) as a result of a vehicle striking the railway bridge at Sandown.
The line between Shanklin and Ryde Pier Head has been closed over safety fears after a lorry hit the bridge at around 14:15 this afternoon.
Response staff have been deployed to the scene at Avenue Road to inspect the structure.
The road remains open in both directions as normal as the vehicle has already been moved.
Disruption is expected to continue until around 17:00.
