Bembridge RNLI crew members were called into action during training today (Saturday) not once but twice.
Not long after training started, the RNLI’s All-Weather Lifeboat (RNLB Alfred Albert Williams was tasked to help a rib which was taking on water at the request of (Solent) Coastguard.
The crew quickly arrived on scene and escorted the boat -which had 2 families on it- back to Bembridge Harbour.
Shortly after leaving the boat the ALB was then tasked once more following a report of person possibly in difficulty the Shanklin Bay Area.
Luckily the crew discovered it wasn’t a person in distress but a lobster pot.
After a welfare check of said pot, they were stood down and returned to the station at 16:45.
Elsewhere on the Islands waters, at around midday and also whilst training, Cowes RNLI were tasked to search for a potential person in the water in the vicinity of the Folly Inn, Whippingham.
Despite an extensive search, nothing was found.
Both lifeboat and it’s crew were back at station by 16:00.
They didn’t offer the usual advice to the pot, then?
Ignore the down voters their all just in a permanent crabby mood. Couldn’t crack a smile even if a dog farted in their mouth ;o)
