Police and paramedics are in attendance at a collision on a busy junction in Ryde tonight (Thursday), which has resulted in traffic being diverted.
The incident – which involves a Nissan Micra – has occurred on Pelhurst Road at the junction with Queen’s Road.
The front wheel of the Micra has taken the brunt of the impact after the vehicle shot out of Mayfield Road.
Island Echo understands the vehicle went through a no entry sign and a red light seconds before the crash.
The extent of any injuries is unknown at this time.
Southern Vectis Route 4 and 9 buses towards Ryde – and all other traffic – will now operate via Pellhurst Road and Argyll Street to rejoin the normal route at West Street.

It won’t be long now, it’s blame the tourist season….
You lot are idiots on the island. you shouldnt be let loose on cars
So true and most Cnuts park on pavements 24/7
you could always sod off back to the mainland!
It does not surprise me with all the accidents on this UNSAFE island
Drive along Great Preston Road Ryde
Due to IW COUNCIL letting the tenants at no.90 Great Preston Road
Park a yellow Vauxhall Corsa REG HJ62ZPV
cars cannot travel freely along this Road and it is UNSAFE for pedestrians
THE COUNCIL ARE LETTING 1 HOUSEHOLD AFFECT EVERYONE
My advise to motorists drive along Marlborough Road instead
why let a T’WAT at no.90 Great Preston Road slow you down.
Seen a taxi gunning it down Great Preston Road. So lucky a kid never walked out between the cars. 98 % of drivers on the island need to retake their test. Even seen the old bill drive the a leaner no signal and driving to fast up a 30 zone without his blues on. Go back to horses and carts
Tourists? Wasn’t it two stupid teenagers? Could’ve killed people but they just don’t care
