Plans have been put forward for 3 new 5G antennas to be installed at County Hall in Newport, as mobile network Three looks to boost internet and connectivity coverage on the Island.
The mobile phone provider looks set to be the first operator of the ‘big 4’ to have their own masts on the Island instead of relying on coverage from those on the Mainland.
The change would see the removal of the old 2G, 3G and 4G antennas, with 3 new 5G ones to be installed in their place on the roof of the council building.
New supports on top of the building will be needed as the existing, older ones are not fit for purpose.
On their application, Three said:
“High-quality communications infrastructure is essential for sustainable economic growth and that high-speed broadband technology and other communications networks can also play a vital role in enhancing the provision of local community facilities and services.”
County hall beaming out ‘mind control’ from the roof top. Anyone else feeling the ‘1984’ vibe. LOL.
I believe Tesco have Bacofoil on special offer at the moment.
I’d get in a good stock if I were you.
Why? Are you and all the other mentally deficient planning on panic buying tinfoil like you did loo roll two years ago?
Not sure with these councillors, we’d notice any difference
So far, 8 easily influenced are under some form of control, it was my usual sense of irony at play, and and you missed the Lol at the end, is that because you fell to the floor because of your knee jerk reaction?
Irony is a subtle artform which shouldn’t need signalling.
Your attempt was crude and, to be frank, read like typical neo-luddite gibberish, particularly the LOL.
Try harder.
Ah, one of the triggerd plebs.
And just HOW MUCH are the Council being paid by Three to allow them to install their equipment on OUR Council Offices?
A lot I hope, to offset the rising costs. This good for all. Only face book idiots will believe there is anything wrong with 5G. Which is funny as most will be using 5G wifi in their homes.
5G WiFi? Who he? Perhaps you mean 5GHz WiFi and yes, many of us are. And surviving. But that won’t stop the doom-mongers from predicting brain-scrambling, infertility, propensity to vote Labour, etc.
The big question nobody answers is: who actually needs 5G?
5G wifi refers to the fact that it uses a 5GHz band. 5G mobile refers to it being 5th generation. They are not connected.
Neither poses any risk health, however.
The thing that go me about the anti 5G demonstrations outside County Hall were all the people out in the sun taking more damage from UV radiation in the 30 minutes or so they were waving their placards than an entire decade next to a 5G base station.
If they’re removing the 2G, 3G and 4G masts does that mean a reduction in coverage (total loss?) in Newport for those without the latest expensive 5G phones?
Good question which roused my curiosity. I wondered if 5G covered everything ie 4G too but seemingly not.
“5G does not set out to ‘replace’ previous generations of mobile inter-connectivity, rather, it works alongside 3G and 4G networks to maximise connection speeds.”
Another article said to use 5G you must have a 5G phone and plan. If that is true then surely they shouldn’t be removing the other masts?
Feel sorry for the Vaccinated of Newport.
