3 men have been charged and remanded in custody in connection with a large-scale illegal cannabis grow at a hotel in Shanklin.
As first reported by Island Echo, Police raided Holliers Hotel on Church Road on Tuesday morning (23rd December), leading to the arrest of 3 people.
Initially, Police said they located around 300 cannabis plants – a number now revised to around 250 plants. All of the plants were seized, with Scottish and Southern Electricity later cutting power to the building.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that over Christmas, 3 individuals were charged in connection with the find and were put before the next available court at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on Boxing Day (Friday).
50-year-old Artan Ulndreaj, of no fixed address, has been charged with the production of cannabis and entering or remaining in the UK beyond the leave time limit. He has been remanded to next appear at Isle of Wight Crown Court on 26th January 2026.
56-year-old Wayne Newton, of Church Road in Shanklin, has been charged with production of cannabis and permitting the production on a premises of cannabis. He has also been remanded to next appear at Isle of Wight Crown Court on 26th January 2026.
27-year-old Kevin Brako, of no fixed address, has also been charged with production of cannabis and has been remanded to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court today (Monday).
