A Newport man has been fined £80 for threatening to smash the windows of a popular bar in Ryde.
28-year-old Samuel Chisholm Bohn, of Mill Lane, appeared before Magistrates on Tuesday where he admitted threatening to damage/destroy property – namely Harbour House in Ryde.
Liz Miller, prosecuting, told the court that body worn footage captured a 10-minute episode in which Bohn was verbally abusive to staff.
Magistrates heard that Bohn had been refused entry to Harbour House on the Esplanade as he was on Pub Watch. As a result of being refused entry, the 28-year-old removals worker became abusive towards the establishment’s owner, Karl Harding. Bohn shouted “boss man boss man, I’ll make sure every window is smashed every week like we did last year”.
Although the bar’s windows were smashed a couple of weeks later, there was no evidence presented to suggest that Bohn had be behind the criminal damage.
Defending, James Cameron said his client accepts he was annoyed and that he shouldn’t have made the threats. He was aggreieved because he had been allowed in previously. Bohn apologied for his actions.
Samuel Bohn was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
