The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, is set to visit the Isle of Wight this weekend as part of the bicentenary celebrations for Cowes Week, with a packed programme of engagements across Cowes and East Cowes over 2 days.
Her Royal Highness will undertake a series of official visits on Saturday (1st August) and Sunday (2nd August), marking the 200th anniversary of the world-famous sailing regatta.
On Saturday, Princess Anne will begin by visiting the organisers of Cowes Week at Regatta House before touring the Cowes Week 200 Maritime Heritage Trail in and around Cowes.
She will then attend a reception at the Island Sailing Club, where she will officially open the new Queen Elizabeth Room – named after her mother – in her capacity as the club’s Patron.
The day’s engagements will include with a reception aboard a Royal Navy Guard Ship anchored on the Solent off the coast of Cowes.
On Sunday, The Princess Royal, as Admiral of the Royal Yacht Squadron, will watch racing before attending a luncheon.
Later in the day, Princess Anne, in her role as Master of the Corporation of Trinity House, will attend a reception aboard THV Patricia, which will be anchored off the coast of Cowes.
Her visit will also include a stop at East Cowes Sailing Club before she officially opens Albany Gardens in East Cowes.
