A building was damaged and money stolen from a tip jar after an ice cream kiosk in Ryde was broken into on Sunday night.
Vandals broke into the kiosk, on the Esplanade next to Eastern Gardens, and took the tip jar that sits behind the counter containing around £30.
The owner headed down on Monday morning ahead of another very busy day to see the damage to the premises.
It is believed that those involved may have been young teenagers – forcing entry to the kiosk with a claw hammer.
Police were called and have been to the scene to conduct inquiries, bagging some evidence of the break-in to be sent for forensic analysis.
Where are the police and PCSOs ?, been Newport w/end and most of today very busy round town with fake (3 with similar bits of cardboard and actually asking people for money, especially the older folks) homeless from mainland and probably some shop lifters,but no police or PCSOs walking around – why ?. Before COVID you would see them wandering around our towns all the time,a couple even out on bikes! We are paying more than ever through council tax but greatly reduced service.

Is there any particular reason why young petty criminals receive so much ire from you while older violent criminals and repeat child sex offenders don’t?

Groups of feral youths plague the Esplanade area at night, why can’t the police use the powers of dispersal orders to get rid of them, oh i forgot that would mean them having to actually be present and doing the job we are paying them for.
