A collision on the dual carriageway in Newport is causing delays for motorists heading towards Newport from St Mary’s Junction this afternoon (Monday).
Island Echo readers say that the incident has taken place on the Newport bound carriageway, with 3 cars reportedly involved in the incident – including a Ford Mondeo estate.
Police units are expected to arrive on the scene near the turnoff for the industrial estate shortly, with the incident so far being described as ‘minor’.
Traffic is building in the immediate area with queues starting to form on all approaches to St Mary’s Junction.
UPDATE @ 14:03 – The road has now cleared.

It’ll be okay, that new £9m traffic easing system will be able to clear the backlog really quickly once the accident is dealt with.
Newport will be flowing freely in no time at all!!!! Ha.
Not surprised at all people don’t seem able to read the instructions for which lane to be in so I’m surprised there aren’t more collisions at the point where the Mondeo is pictured
