There’s still time for eligible residents to book their free spring COVID-19 vaccination before the programme closes at the end of June.
So far, almost 150,000 vaccinations have been given to people aged 75 and over, care home residents, and those at increased risk of becoming seriously ill from COVID-19 since the campaign launched on 13 April. This means 49% of those eligible across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight have already received their spring vaccine.
While many people will be invited directly via their GP practice, eligible individuals do not need to wait for an invitation and can book through the online National Booking System, via the NHS App, or by calling 119 until 30 June.
The Spring vaccine is being offered to:
- People aged 75 years and over
- Residents in care homes
- Adults and children aged six months and over with a weakened immune system
Dr Zaid Hirmiz, GP and Deputy Chief Medical Officer for NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight, says:
“Since the start of the spring programme, almost 150,000 people have already come forward for their COVID-19 vaccination, helping to protect some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
“It is encouraging that nearly half of those eligible have now had their vaccine, but we still have appointments available over the coming weeks, and I would urge anyone who is eligible not to miss out.
“While for many people COVID-19 may feel like a thing of the past, the virus continues to circulate and can still cause serious illness, particularly for older people and those with weakened immune systems. Getting your spring dose boosts your protection and reduces the risk of hospitalisation if you do catch the virus.”
Anyone unsure whether they are eligible, or who needs support booking an appointment, can contact the NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight COVID Vaccination Helpline on 0300 561 0018, Monday to Friday between 09:00-16:00.

I thought the pandemic ended!
Lol
On this occasion I have to agree with you comment, don’t worry though their already developing the next virus and the jibby jab as we speak lol
Billy G and his friends won’t leave this alone.
Enough is Enough
the pandemic has ended…
but covid is still around, and vunerable people can still get seriously ill, or die, from it
like with the 1918 flu pandemic, which killed 50 million to 100 million people worldwide,…
flu is still here, & people still catch it, and some die from it, & sensible people, who may be vunerable, get vaccinated, against it…
Safe and effective, you need to watch real
news.
Too many of my relations have suffered since
taking them.
where did I say anything about “Safe and effective”
there is a risk, and potential side-effects involved with any medicine or medical procedure, but with vaccines, generally the statistical benfits, massively outweigh the risks.
of course there will always be the outliers, for whom the side-effects are greater than the benefits, but statistically those are insignificant.
it is quite possible that you are only still alive today, ‘cos of vaccines you had when you were a child…
So, perhaps it would have been better if you hadn’t had any…
You are very trusting to believe all that.
Trusting, no…
I wouldn’t trust much on ‘blind-faith’ but am willing to read and understand, crittically presented evedence, and make an informed, educated decision…
All vaccines are poison…that’s why so many people are staggering around, using walking frames and mobility scooters, not to mention defibrillators on every street corner. Not normal, no way. Wake-up!
That’s blatant preying on the feeble minded…..wouldn’t want those in the gene pool of the NWO.
