The children of St Helens Primary School are calling on local businesses and members of the public to donate picture frames for an exciting Community Art Project taking place next month.
All the children at the school will be producing a piece of artwork for the project and they want to be able to frame them, so need to find 100 frames.
One of the organisers of the project, Peta Rainford, Vice Chair of Governors, says:
“The children will be working on A4 paper, so we are really looking for A4 or 8”x10” frames. They can be old or new, and any thickness or colour. I think it will be nice to have a variety of styles. We would be so grateful for any donations.”
Members of the public and local businesses are also invited to submit artworks to the project; on the subject of ‘My St Helens’. The artworks can be in any medium – paint, collage, photography, sculpture, knitting, embroidery – and while the children are working on A4 paper, submissions from outside the school can be of any size.
All the entries will feature in an exhibition at the school on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th February and will be photographed or scanned to produce a permanent piece of artwork, documenting St Helens in 2020, to be exhibited in the village.
Peta adds:
“We really want as many people as possible to get involved. You don’t have to be a professional artist or live in the village to have a go. It is hoped that most of the artworks will be available for sale, to raise money for the school.”
If you are able to donate one or more frames, you are asked to take them to the St Helens Primary School or contact the school on 01983 872442. Artwork for the exhibition should be delivered to the school during the week of 10th-14th February 2020.
