Ryde is about to get a taste of India as Spice Lounge opens on Monday 15th September at 49 High Street.
The restaurant is the creation of a partnership between Johir Uddin, Saidur Rahman, Azizul Islam, and Suhel Ahmed, a team with years of experience and a strong reputation for high-quality food and service. Their aim is to bring a modern, contemporary, and cozy atmosphere to Ryde while also offering an authentic and genuine dining experience.
Leading the kitchen is Chef Azizul Islam, whose impressive 30 years of experience ensure each dish is crafted to perfection. He is joined by a skilled team, each with at least 15 years’ experience, guaranteeing consistency and quality across the menu. The chef is prepared to create any dish requested by customers, with a particular emphasis on seafood, which is a personal speciality. Signature offerings include sea bass, king prawns with the shell on, and fusion curries that combine flavors from across the Indian subcontinent, thoughtfully adapted to British tastes.
Among the standout dishes are Royal Assamese Chicken, a whole breast stuffed with minced lamb and mashed potato, and Achari Sally Lamb, a tender marinated lamb cooked with pickle. For those seeking a spicier experience, the Darjeeling Chicken is the restaurant’s hottest dish, though the chef is happy to cater to mild or medium spice preferences, ensuring every diner finds something to suit their taste.
Spice Lounge also offers a 10% collection discount, with food available to order directly from their website. Deliveries cover the Ryde area as far as Wootton, using cars in winter rather than scooters, and without relying on third-party delivery platforms, keeping service personal and reliable.
The restaurant strives to be more than just a place to eat. The team hopes to create a sophisticated dining experience in Ryde, combining competitive pricing with high-quality service, ensuring guests feel welcome and comfortable. Whether dining in or enjoying a meal at home, customers can expect consistently excellent food, crafted with care and passion.
With a blend of traditional Indian flavors, innovative fusion dishes, and expertly prepared seafood, Spice Lounge promises to delight locals and visitors alike. The partnership’s strong reputation for both food and service underpins this new venture, setting high expectations for a restaurant that aspires to become a go-to destination in Ryde for Indian cuisine.
Experience the best of Indian cuisine in Ryde from Monday 15th September at 49 High Street. From chef specials to fusion curries and seafood delights, Spice Lounge delivers bold flavours, expert cooking, and warm hospitality – in-house, for collection, or delivered to your door.

Sounds great, will make a change from smelling
Cannabis along the street.
I’d rather cannabis than the same old unimaginative effortless slop smell
Ryde is the place for you then.
Lol
hopefully its got no ties to ryde tandori
Thank god for that
The Indian restaurants in Ryde sell nothing but watery tastless slop with shop bought naans.
The only decent Indian (Actually Bangladeshi for the permanently ignorant) restaurant on this Island is Mombai bites in Sandown. They make their own bread in a proper tandoori oven. The rest should be ashamed. I really miss decent Indian / Bangladeshi food served in London, where people just will not pay for this sub standard effort at what should be wonderful food.
Brick Lane is the best place for a ruby
I like Tamarind in Newport but I will definitely give this a try
