Southern Water engineers are working to repair a pressurised sewer on a main road in Cowes this week.
It is said that the blockage of the sewer – on Terminus Road in the heart of the town – has been caused by a build-up of materials and matter that shouldn’t be flushed.
As a result of the works taking place access for residents of Griffin House is limited.
During the repairs, workers discovered that the pipe needs relining and further repairs to prevent incidents like this from happening in the future, which now means engineers will be on-site for longer than was initially anticipated.
A spokesperson for Southern Water has said:
“We will carry out further surveys to assess how long we anticipate this work will take, but we expect this to be at least a number of days.
“We’re very sorry for the disruption this is causing residents, businesses and visitors to the Isle of Wight.”
Presume this is the reason for the fleet of Tankers in the coach park up the road.
Up to 10 “southern water worker” was at the bottom of ladies walk were it joins to players beach, scratching thier heads for 8 hours to unblock a 3m drainage pipe.
