After some 60 years of keeping the Island’s motorists moving, Fairlee Service Station has announced that it will no longer be selling petrol and diesel from next month – and will also be closing the Mace convenience store.
Owner Simon Flack has decided that it is time for the family-run business to move with the times, deciding to close the petrol station to focus on car sales.
The workshop will continue to service vehicles and used cars will still be sold from the forecourt, but the pumps will be switched off for good in March.
Simon says:
“Having lived in Fairlee Road for 60 years, it is understandable that we feel part of the community, but unfortunately the time for us to sell fuel has passed.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing us and putting your trust in our services.
“Our slogan of ‘So much more than just petrol’ has served us well. Although you will no longer see this in our advertising, in essence, this remains true – just think of us now as Fairlee ‘so much more, just not petrol!'”

Thx for sharing our news Darren, it will be a sad day when I turn the pumps off. But we will still be here to sell and service cars. Same family business, same good service.
To show your thanks, what about a new company car ? (Lol)
No slur on the staff or management but I’m surprised they kept selling petrol for as long as this at the prices Gulf sold it at.
It’s been tough when the supermarkets sell it for less than I buy it for
