Wholetime and retained firefighters from Newport have responded to a false alarm at St Mary’s Hospital this afternoon (Wednesday).
2 appliances were mobilised to the hospital off Parkhurst Road at 15:45 when a smell of burning was reported to fire control.
Crews have now finished conducting an examination of the building and it has been deemed that external smell of burning sparked the alert.
Both appliances have now stood down and returned to station.

Again. Still they have time on their hands, NOT adorning the ugly tower with a insignificant tree.
Never mind the cost. taxpayers will foot the bill.
More bad cooking in the 1 star kitchen
Staff BBQ?
Pixie Police will confiscate those signs!
All three words are upper case (capitals)
If a member of staff smells any burning at all, they have to alert fire services, end of. When recently staying at the hospital, I was told how a nearby BBQ had caused an alarm. The smoke from someone’s garden was blowing in the right/wrong direction, straight down the hospital tower vent. Better to be safe than sorry.
