A jet ski sinking on the beach at Sandown lead to the launch of Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat yesterday (Monday).
At around 15:30 lifeguards from Sandown Beach Lifeguards were alerted to casualties in the water aboard a sinking jet ski.
After paddling out to the scene, it was decided that due to tricky conditions, the casualties couldn’t be helped without the assistance of Solent Coastguard
Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat SSILB was paged and a Coastguard Rescue Team from Bembridge was tasked to the scene at around 15:45.
Due to the location of the incident, SSILB was able to respond to the scene quickly, towing the jet ski and its passengers safely back to the Station on the revetment.
