Police were called to reports of a collision between a van and a moped on Newport Road at 19:45 yesterday evening (Monday).
A search of the van soon uncovered drugs including cannabis and clenbuterol, alongside a large quantity of cash. A hatchet – considered an offensive weapon – was also found within the vehicle.
The driver, a 35-year-old man from Shankin, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of criminal property.
He remains in custody at Newport Police Station.

More scum dealing drugs. Where the hell have all these drug dealers come from. Get a job and make a decent, legal living. The island doesn’t welcome these types.
They do it because they can get away with it , he’ll get hardly any punishment if any at all ,then do it all again. They don’t need a job as we’re paying them a wage in their benefits, hence why the whole world is landing on our shores, this country is a laughing stock!
The island residents don’t but the council do.
We may not welcome them but we seem to be buying their wares or they would not be in business. The solution lies in our own hands – educating our kids and setting examples.
Sadly many islanders are too blame.
It’s not only overners.

Simple, should be death penalty for drug dealers, only getting what they deserve, we are far far too soft on ‘people’ like this.
