The Isle of Wight Council has launched a survey into household waste and recycling services on the Island.
The survey, which continues until 7th November, can be completed online at iwight.com or via a paper version available from a range of locations around the Island.
The council is responsible for the collection, treatment and disposal of household waste and recyclables produced on the Island – which is undertaken through a contract with Island Waste Services (a subsidiary of Biffa Municipal Ltd). As part of its commitment to ongoing service improvement, the council is seeking views on the current service as well as considerations for the future.
The council is currently in the process of selecting a contractor to provide the household waste and recycling service under a new contract from October 2015.
Once the closing date for the survey has passed, the information will be collated and used to monitor the operation of the current service. It will also be used to consider potential improvements for the future.
Executive member for sustainability, environment and public realm, Councillor Luisa Hillard, said:
“This consultation exercise will play an important part in how we assess current services and plan ahead for the future.
“We would strongly encourage people to complete the survey and play their part in helping shape and develop the best possible service for Island – a service that meets our needs and reflects our long-term environmental responsibilities.”
The survey can be completed by visiting direct at www.iwight.com/Residents/Environment-Planning-and-Waste/Waste-and-Recycling/Waste-Collection/Waste-Survey.
