Police on the Isle of Wight are appealing for witnesses after a safe with around £600 in cash was stolen from a café in Godshill overnight.
The theft took place sometime between 00:10 and 00:40 this morning (Sunday 8th December) at The Old Smithy in High Street.
Entry was gained to the café through a rear window and the safe taken.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
Hampshire Constabulary are appealing for anyone who was in this area at the time to get in touch.
Were you walking or driving through this area at the time? Do you remember seeing anything out of the ordinary? If so, call 101, quoting the crime reference number 44190440819.
Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.

Well here’s a thing……
What if the people involved:
– drove a car
– car was seen every day
– car was not taxed
– car was not insured
– car was not MOTd
– car was not registered in drivers name
– car was known to PCSOs
– car was parked in same place every night
– car was ticketed over 11 times
– car was reported to 101 daily
Would that help find the perpetrator?!?
Or would the police ‘need to see it being driven’ before they would do anything?? (Even when PCSOs talk to the driver at the time???
THEN maybe there might be a point in ringing 101???? To have the call eventually answered by someone who does nothing but make excuses as to why the driver couldn’t be caught.
How about that scenario then? Cos it already happens every day in Shanklin!!!!!
Likely an inside informant telling a friend. Few would expect 600 to be left in the safe overnight, would they? Likely blown on drugs, drink, women, and the rest wasted.
hope it’s found safe and sound
Not exactly… safe then?
Villains
Feckless layabouts too lazy to work for a living .
Why on earth would you have a safe that can be carried away, knowing what scum we have on the island.
