Timpson – a national retailer that specialises in key cutting, watch and shoe repairs – is finally coming to Ryde’s Tesco Extra.
Tesco has long been looking to host a Timpson store on-site for many years but planning hurdles and fears that the national chain would put local shops in Ryde Town Centre ‘out of business’ have always put paid to those plans.
The idea was first touted back in 2012, then in 2017 and 2022. Previous plans were for a modular pod that was to be housed in the car park.
This time around, the store is set to be located in what was used as a secondary exit, with work already underway and Timpson branded signage in-situ already.
Timpson currently operates stores inside both Sainsbury’s and Asda in Newport.
It is expected that Timpson will be up and running in the New Year.
Its is unclear if they will be offering a dry-cleaning service.
