A crash on the main Newport – Yarmouth road is causing delays this evening (Thursday). Police, fire and paramedics are on scene on the A3054 just past Pound Lane where a 2-vehicle road traffic collision has occurred . Island Echo understands that there has been significant flooding on the road surface in the area as a result of the heavy rain experienced across the Island. It is thought the driving conditions have played a part in the crash. Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being, with a road closure currently in place.
Elsewhere on the Island’s roads, Police have also been called to Ringwood Road roundabout in Binstead after reports of another 2- vehicle collision. Delays are expected in the area whilst the incident is cleared. A spokesperson from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“Please be careful of standing water on the roads. We have had a lot of rain, if a puddle looks small just be aware that it might be deep.”
