Newport Road in Niton has been closed by Island Roads this morning (Thursday) to facilitate emergency gully repair works.
The main route into the village from the north has been closed between its junctions with Kingates Lane and Southford Lane. Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the road is closed.
The official diversion is Newport Road, Niton Road, Beacon Alley, Whitwell Road, Godshill Road, High Street, Kemming Road, Kingates Lane.
It is currently unclear how long the road will remain closed for but contractors have up to 21 days.
